MarsDrive is dedicated to overcoming the barriers that prevent humanity from becoming a true space faring people and more specifically to overcome barriers to settlement of Mars. Currently, beyond the technical challenges there are 2 much larger issues which we are working on. 1. Low Cost Space Access. With the current sky high price of space transport it will continue to remain a field in which only government or the very wealthy can enter, and this presents a huge barrier for the stimulation of future markets. It also means most of the world's population will never get the chance to live or explore space. Mars will also remain a step too far while prices remain at their current astronomical levels. Our work is aimed at finding ways to strategically support the new space industries struggling to lower costs through innovative contests, grants and volunteer expertise.
The 2nd Barrier we face is the severe lack of active public support for space and Mars priorities. Our government and business leaders will continue to remain hard to reach for space funding while they see no pressing public desire for such ideas. Our task is not just to educate the next generation or inspire about the potential for space but rather to actively promote a space and Mars future in every way we can, online and offline. The simple reality is that large scale public support (such as the environmental movement) gets results. We must build our numbers if we are to be taken seriously for the task ahead of us is monumental. We cannot expect governments or the private sector to fund our dreams if there remains only a small handful of us in support of these ideas. So when you join MarsDrive you will be helping us promote space and a future on Mars to people everywhere, and together we will build the numbers to achieve nothing less than what we have set out to do- settlers on Mars, in our time.
